North Korea said today that it has detained an American man for trespassing on its border with China, the second arrest of a U.S. citizen reported by the communist government in the past several weeks. The family of a five-year-old British boy snatched by gun- wielding raiders in Pakistan have angrily insisted that the kidnap was no "inside job".

Several men - including a taxi driver - have been arrested in connection with the abduction of Sahil postcard printing Saeed, who was taken on Wednesday from his grandmother's house in the Punjab region.

The boy's mother, Akila Naqqash, and aunt, Amrana Iftikhar, spoke out after Wajid Shamsul Hasan, the Pakistani High Commissioner in the UK, said there was "a possibility of someone in the family having some sort of knowledge".

Breaking down in tears at the family home in Oldham, Greater Manchester, Ms Iftikhar said: "We are such a close family, no family member could do this to a child, not our family."

Ms Naqqash spoke of the growing frustration for relatives as they wait for news. She said: "We are getting no answers. How are they treating him? Is he eating? He is just a little boy, what has he done wrong?" The armed raiders, wielding guns and grenades, apparently subjected the family in Pakistan to a six-hour ordeal after breaking into the house in Jhelum. The attackers are said to have demanded a Pounds 100,000 ransom for the boy's return.

Mr Hasan told GMTV that detectives were looking at the possibility of whether the kidnap was "a sort of inside job".

But speaking later on ITV News he appeared to distance himself from the comments, saying: "I did not say that it is an inside job done by the family, I said somebody nearby must have informed those criminals and they must be in league with them. For example, we are suspecting the driver who brought them home or anybody relating to him could have done it.

"Although there have been leads, there have been arrests, and the taxi driver has been arrested and he is being Cartier Replica Watches questioned and there are other leads also, which tend to certain telephone calls. I can't tell you about the whereabouts of those telephone calls for the safety of the child or I can't name the persons who have been arrested."

Ms Naqqash begged the British Government for their help as she renewed her bid to get her little boy back.

"He must be scared now. I am pleading, please just help us."

Ms Naqqash, 31, previously said there was "no way" her family could afford the six-figure ransom on his head.

His great-uncle, Matlub Ahmed, 55, who also ruled out any family involvement, said they had not heard from the kidnappers but were in regular contact with his nephew, Raja Naqqash Saeed, Sahil's father.

He added: "We are all praying to bring that kid back. His mother has been crying all night."

JAY BOTHROYD would raise a smile if you said he wasn't good enough to clean Nicolas Anelka's boots.

For Bothroyd once had the job in the dim and distant past at his first club Arsenal.

The two men look likely to be charged with leading their respective forward lines when Chelsea and Cardiff City collide in the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

But when French star Anelka arrived at Arsenal in a controversial move from Paris St Germain in 1997, Islington product Bothroyd was appointed his boot boy.

"My job was to make sure his boots were shining every day," recalled Bothroyd.

"After training or matches it didn't matter. They had to be spotless.

"But, to be fair, Nicolas never wanted me to do it.

"He always wanted to clean them himself - and Zenith Replica Watches at that age I was happy with that!

"Traditionally, the professional then makes sure the apprentice is rewarded with a Christmas box to say thanks.

"But I was only an apprentice for six months before I was given a senior professional contract by Arsenal. I was one of the fortunate ones who didn't have to do all the jobs apprentices often do."

Over the last decade or so the careers of Anelka and Bothroyd have gone in different directions, even if both have made an art of the football transfer.

After Arsenal, Anelka stopped off at Real Madrid, Paris St Germain (again), Liverpool, Manchester City, Fenerbahce, Bolton and Chelsea in transfers totalling pounds 66.5m.

Bothroyd's career path via Coventry, Perugia in Italy, Blackburn, Charlton, Wolves, Stoke and Cardiff might not be so salubrious, but those moves still come to pounds 13m.

"Nicolas is a world-class forward," admitted Bothroyd. "He has shown that time and again at club level and for France and we know that he can cause us problems in the cup tie."

While it will be bonjour Nicolas, drawing Chelsea means that there are other cases of friends reunited for Bothroyd.

The 27-year-old first met Chelsea and England full-back Ashley Cole at the age of 10 when they were playing Sunday football for the hugely-successful Westward Boys in London.

"At that time, I was playing schoolboy football at QPR, but I joined Ashley at Arsenal a couple of years later.

"We were from different parts of London and I'm a year younger than Ashley, but we played a lot of football together in Arsenal's youth team.

"They were great times and we won a lot of games and you could see Ashley was going to become a top player. "Now he is England's left-back and that says it all.

"We always have a laugh and paper bag printing a chat whenever we meet and I'll be cheering him on when England are in the World Cup finals this summer."

Though Bothroyd might miss out on a head-to-head duel with Chelsea captain John Terry - the centre-back is expected to sit out the fifth-round tie following his well-publicised personal situation - he also once played in the same England Under-21 side as the troubled defender.

Chinese rescuers provide much-needed medical assistance in Haiti

BEIJING, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Being the only foreign rescue team to run medical-aid stations in quake-ravaged Haiti, Chinese rescuers are giving quake victims what they desperately need: medical assistance, team members told Xinhua via phone Saturday.

The China International Search and Rescue Team, arriving in Port- au-Prince at 2 a.m. local time on Jan. 14, opened the first medical assistance station at 8 p.m. the next day, said captain Hou Shike.

China's Zheng upsets Bondarenko to make quarters at Australian Open (updated)

MELBOURNE, Jan. 24 (Xinhua) -- China's Zheng Jie became the postcard printing first player to reach the quarterfinals at the Australian Open after she powered past 31st seeded Ukranian Alona Bondarenko 7-6 (4), 6-4.

China's Zhejiang province seeks economic cooperation with Macao

MACAO, Jan. 13 (Xinhua) -- 2010 Macao-Zhejiang Week kicked off here Wednesday with an aim to deepen the economic ties between China's Zhejiang Province and Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).

Organized by the provincial government of Zhejiang, the business- promotion event will last from Wednesday till Saturday. During the event period, a series of economic and trade cooperation agreements will be signed, and an exhibition featuring Zhejiang's time honored brands, and a picture show of Zhejiang's sceneries will also be held.

Chinese congress delegation concludes visit to Samoa

HONG KONG, Jan. 24 /PRNewswire/ -- With the news that Chinese graft-busters have targeted officials in the Guangdong city of Maoming in their on-going anti-corruption drive, foreign businesses operating in China need to reassess their dealings with government officials to identify whether they have been involved in activities that could be perceived as bribery and put a stop to it, says The Red Flag Group.

In recent years, Chinese efforts to crackdown on corruption among government officials have mainly focused on the so-called first-tiered cities. This included the sentencing in 2008 of Chen Liangyu, Shanghai's former communist party chief, and the dismissal of XuZhongheng, a former major of Shenzhen, both for bribery.

However, in a sign that the crackdown is turning towards emerging tier two cities, Chinese language media have reported that officials in the city of Maoming are being investigated for corruption. They include Yang Guangliang, Maoming's vice-mayor, who was placed under detention by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection last October. Also targeted was Cheng Bin, the police chief of Maoming Public Security Bureau, and Yang Qiang, director of Maoming's Maogang district police bureau.

This followed other tier two city officials who have been recently netted by Chinese graft-busters, such as Chen Xizhao, deputy chief of police in the Guangdong city of Lianjiang, who was fired after it was reported that he invited 1,000 guests to a Christmas party at his residence. Also, Ye Shuyang, a former police chief in the city of Shaoguan, was arrested in 2008 and is set to stand trial for accepting more than 30 million yuan in bribes over a period of 20 years.
